In the first quarter of 2023, the top five social networking applications on the iOS platform in Brazil—WhatsApp Messenger, Facebook, Telegram Messenger, Google Meet, and Messenger—demonstrated diverse trends in downloads, revenue, and active users.
WhatsApp Messenger showed consistent weekly downloads, peaking at 210K in early February. Its weekly active users gradually increased from 5.4M to almost 5.5M by the end of March. Revenue remained negligible until the last week of March, where it registered a small amount of $5.
Facebook experienced fluctuations in weekly downloads, ranging from 97K to 139K. Revenue saw a peak of approximately $7.5K in early January, but gradually declined to around $4.7K by the end of the quarter. Active users hovered around the 26M mark, with minor variations throughout the period.
Telegram Messenger had steady weekly downloads, with numbers mostly above 90K, peaking at 109K in mid-March. Revenue experienced significant fluctuations, peaking at $11.4K in late February. Active users remained stable, starting at 2.1M and ending the quarter slightly below that mark.
Google Meet saw a substantial rise in weekly downloads, starting from 13K at the end of December and peaking at 75K in early February. Active users also showed a positive trend, increasing from 23K to 35K by the end of March.
Messenger maintained fairly consistent weekly downloads, ranging between 48K and 60K. Active users slightly declined from 6.1M to around 5.9M over the quarter.
